Abstract	:	As a majority Muslim democracy, Indonesia takes a unique approach to religious freedom. Their foundational principles of Pancasila and resolute democratic institutions have been able to weather the increasing rise of violent Islamic extremism. However, religious intolerance has proven to be a more complex set of problems for the Indonesian government. If Indonesia can curtail such intolerance, Pancasila may prove to be a viable model for other Muslim majority countries to follow and counteract terrorist groups that operate under the guise of Islam.
