The quality of life in London is declining. Homelessness, unemployment, poverty, racial and sexual violence, pollution, a deterioration in transport, public spaces and public access to decision-making, the increasing demands on business and development from the new Europe; all these suggest a city in danger of losing both priorities and direction. The book analyses how the city has failed and how a new vision is both necessary and possible.
