Abstract
:
"This edited volume contains full-length papers given at a conference jointly sponsored by the RAND Center for Asia-Pacific Policy and the Taiwan-based Chinese Council for Advanced Policy Studies. The conference brought together many of the nation's top experts to assess trends in Chinese civil-military relations, force structure, doctrine, and capabilities over the past 20 years, as well as the state of the China military studies field. The book thus provides a comprehensive retrospective of Western research on the People's Liberation Army in the last quarter of the 20th century."--Rand abstracts.
