The National Academy Press in Washington, D.C., presents the full text of "Unequal Treatment: Confronting Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care," a book published in 2002 from the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine. The book relates the findings of the National Institute of Medicine's Committee for Understanding and Eliminating Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care. It was edited by Brian D. Smedley, Adrienne Y. Stith, and Alan R. Nelson. The findings show that racial and ethnic minorities tend to receive a lower quality of healthcare in the United States than do non-minorities.
