Abstract
:
The study asked a defined question, “What are the potential merit or validity of writing a culturally competent manual integrated with CBT intervention to treat PTSD symptoms in the Iranian population living in USA”. The population of this study was twenty mental health professionals with experience working with Iranian culture, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and PTSD. Utilizing a qualitative research with Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), through an online, open ended questionnaire survey, the study discovered from participants responses, clinicians don’t have specific training in Iranian culture, CBT and PTSD to prepare them for providing services. Based on the findings, the author recommends a competent manual including, culture, CBT and PTSD training to address the needs of the therapists in the field.
