Abstract : Electricity is a crucial aspect of modern society and plays a crucial role in economic development. It has contributed to the global economy for decades as it influences all areas of a country's development including industrial, societal, economic, and individual livelihood. The purpose of the current research study was to examine and scientifically compare the different method of energy generation and management in Nigeria and the United State with the aim of providing alternative method of energy generation to Nigeria. Data for the study was collected from government agencies involved in the collection of energy supply and regulation data in the US and Nigeria. Both descriptive and inferential data analysis methods were used to analyze and interpret the data using Microsoft Excel. The study evaluated whether there is a significant mean difference in energy generated between US and Nigeria for the period between 1980 and 2017, From the results, the absolute value of the computed t-statistic (31.395) is larger than the critical value (2.026). The p-value is less than the significance level (0.05) and shows that there is a significant difference between the means of the two samples. The study concludes that there is a significant difference in energy generation between Nigeria and United States. The study concluded that there is need for Nigeria to explore other forms of alternative energy generation. The study went ahead to recommend alterative energy method available to Nigeria which includes nuclear, fossil fuels, and renewable based on the country available natural resources.
