Abstract	:	Abdurrahman Hibri (ʿAbd al-Raḥmān Ḥibrī) (b. Zilhicce (Dhu l-Ḥijjah) 1012/May 1604–d. 1068/1658 or 1069/1659) was the son of the müderris (teacher) Habbazzade Hasan (Khabbāz-zāde Ḥasan) Efendi (d. 10 Ramazan (Ramaḍān) 1039/23 April 1630). He was educated in his native Edirne and in Istanbul. It appears that he adopted Hibri (lit. “knowledgeable, learned”) as his nom de plume when he started composing poetry as a young man. He taught until the end of his life as müderris in a number of colleges in
