Abstract	:	Abū l-Suʿūd b. Muḥammad b. Muṣṭafā al-ʿImād (d. 982/1574), known as Khoja Çelebi (Hoca Çelebi), was an outstanding Ottoman jurist and scholar who, as qāḍī ʿaskar and shaykh al-Islām , made substantial contributions to the practice of Ottoman law. His father, Shaykh Muḥyī l-Dīn al-Iskilībī, was a close companion of Sultan Bāyezīd II (r. 886–918/1481–1512) and became known as “the Sultan's shaykh ”: indeed Bāyezīd built a zāwiya for him in Istanbul which became a centre for men of state and men
