Abstract	:	Abū Ḥuzāba al-Walīd b. Ḥunayfa (or Nahīk) al-Tamīmī (d. 83/702) was a minor Basran Umayyad poet who wrote rajaz and invective poetry. He was enrolled in the dīwān —that is, he joined the army—and was sent to Khurāsān under the commander and governor of that province, Salm b. Ziyād (d. 73/692). In Sijistān he was a member of the entourage of the governor Ṭalḥat al-Ṭalaḥāt (d. c. 65/684–5). He later returned to Basra. He took part in the rebellion of Ibn al-
