Abstract	:	The Bayyūmiyya is an independent branch of the Aḥmadiyya (or Badawiyya) ṭarīqa (lit. “path,” hence religious “order”). Founded in Cairo by ʿAlī al-Bayyūmī (d. 1183/1769), it is a popular Egyptian order whose principles go back to the teaching of Sayyid Aḥmad al-Badawī.
