Abstract	:	Saʿīd al-Dīn Abū ʿUthmān Muḥammad b. Aḥmad al-Kāsānī al-Farghānī (c. 629-99/1231-1300) was a prominent Muslim scholar and mystic from Khurāsān. He was born in the town of Kāsān, in the valley of Farghāna, in Central Asia, from which his dual nisba (the part of a name indicating tribal origin or location and later often referring to a special characteristic or profession), “al-Kāsānī al-Farghānī,” is derived.
