Abū Mūsā l-Jazūlī (also al-Juzūlī, d. c.607/1210, in Marrakech) was a religious scholar of the Mālikī school of law, a philologist, and a grammarian. He is best known for his work al-Muqaddima al-Jazūliyya fī l-naḥw (“The Jazūlian introduction to the study of grammar”), also known as al-Qānūn (“The canon” or “The compendium”) and al-Kurrāsa (“The booklet” or “The notebook”), which was the subject of more than twenty commentaries and influenced important grammarians from the Maghrib, al-Andalus, and the East.
