Abstract	:	Fawzī l-Maʿlūf (d. 1930) was one of the most important poets of the Southern Mahjar (Arab immigrant writers in South America) . He was the son of the distinguished historian and man of letters ʿĪsā l-Maʿlūf (d. 1956), brother of fellow Mahjar poets Shafīq (d. 1976) and Riyāḍ (d. 1982), and nephew of Mīshāl al-Maʿlūf (d. 1943), co-founder and first president of al-ʿUṣba al-Andalusiyya (The Andalusian League; a group of Arab authors living in Brazil). Fawzī was born in Zaḥla, Lebanon, on 21 May 1899.
