Abstract	:	Muḥammad Amīn al-Ḥusaynī (1895–1974) was a Palestinian nationalist and Muslim religious leader. Born in Jerusalem in 1895 to one of the city’s most prominent families, in 1913 he made the pilgrimage to Mecca and thereafter bore the honorific “al-Ḥājj.” He studied briefly at al-Azhar University in Cairo as well as at the Dār al-Daʿwa wa-l-Irshād, founded in Cairo in 1911 by Rashīd Riḍā (1865–1935), the Muslim reformer and early Arab nationalist, and in Istanbul at the Military Academy.
