Abstract	:	The Treaty of Ankara (more accurately, the Agreement [Accord] of Ankara) was concluded between France and the government of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (the Turkish nationalist government) on 20 October 1921. The term “Agreement” was inspired by the fiction that it was a preparation for the final peace treaty between the Allies and the Ottoman state (or rather its successor in Ankara). In fact, it was a separate treaty that spelled out an agreement between France and the Turkish nationalist government. The French relinquished the territory in southern Turkey
