Abstract	:	Abū Manṣūr (or Abū Naṣr) ʿAlī b. Aḥmad Asadī Ṭūsī (b. c.390/1000, d. 465/1073) was a Persian poet and linguist. Despite Asadī’s literary importance, little is known of his life: some information can be found in Asadī’s own works, and brief references appear in biographical dictionaries, such as the Tadhkirat al-shuʿarāʾ (“Memorial of the poets,” 892/1487) by Dawlatshāh al-Samarqandī (d. 900/1495 or 913/1507). Hermann Ethé postulated the existence of two men named Asadī: the first, the father, Abū Naṣr Aḥmad
