Abstract	:	Mullā Muḥammad Saʿīd Ashraf Māzandarānī (b. c.1030–5/1620–6, d. 1116/1704) was one of the last great Iranian émigré poets at the Mughal court in India. The evidence from his poems and from biographical dictionaries suggests that he was born in Māzandarān (a province of northern Iran), into a family of scholars in humble circumstances. Ashraf's father Mullā Muḥammad Ṣāliḥ Māzandarānī, son of Mawlā Aḥmad b. Shams al-Dīn Māzandarānī, settled in Isfahan with his family, where he drew the attention of the mullā Muḥammad Taqī
