Abstract : Grigōriyōs Abū l-Faraj Bar ʿEbroyo (b. 622–3/1225–6, d. 685/1286), known in Arabic as Ibn al-ʿIbrī and in the West as Barhebraeus , was a prelate of the Syrian Orthodox Church and the most prominent author of the period of Syriac literature that has been termed the “Syriac Renaissance.” Barhebraeus was born in Melitene (Malatya), then under the Rūm Saljūqs, the son of the physician Ahrun.
