Chinggis Khān (d. c. 653/1255–6) was a Mongol khān and founder of the power known to European historians as the Golden Horde but which Muslim sources refer to as the ulus (territory, appanage) of Jochī, after Bātū’s father, the eldest son of Chinggis Khān (Genghis Khan, r. 602–26/1206–29).
