Known in Spanish accounts as Raja Bungsu , Muwallil Wasit (r. 1610–46, d. 1680) was appointed by the sultan of Brunei as his adipati (“viceroy“) in the Sulu Archipelago (west of Mindanao) with the title of sultan of Sulu, residing in Jolo. Bungsu Raja succeeded his cousin, Shah Batarah Pengiran Tengah, one of the sons of Sultan Hasan of Brunei, as ninth sultan of Sulu.
