Abstract	:	ʿUmar Farrūkh (1906–1987) was a Lebanese literary historian, poet, and university instructor. He was born in Beirut to a conservative Muslim family. After completing his elementary and secondary education at various schools in Beirut, he earned his bachelor of arts degree from the American University in Beirut in 1928. After graduation, Farrūkh taught at various schools in Naples and Beirut. In the mid-1930s, he completed his higher education at universities in France and Germany, obtaining his Ph.D. from Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1937, with a dissertation titled “Islam
