Abstract : Ibn al-Faqīh (fl. 290/903), the name by which Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. Muḥammad al-Hamadhānī is commonly known, was a man of letters (adīb) known for his Kitāb al-buldān (“Book of countries”). This work survives only in two abridged versions and was apparently composed in the early fourth/tenth century. Not much is known about Ibn al-Faqīh’s life. From his full name, it is apparent that he was from the Iranian city of Hamadhān, a supposition that is supported by the fact that he devotes
