Abstract	:	Najm al-Dīn Abū l-Maʿālī Muḥammad b. Suwār (or Sawwār) Ibn Isrāʾīl b. al-Khiḍr b. Isrāʾīl al-Shaybānī al-Dimashqī (603–77/1206–78), was a famous Arab Ṣūfī poet of the seventh/thirteenth century. He was born on 12 Rabīʿ I 603/17 October 1206 in Damascus, where one of his ancestors had settled after accompanying Khālid b. al-Walīd, the famous military commander and Companion of the prophet Muḥammad, on campaign in Syria.
