Abū Bakr Muḥammad b. Isḥāq b. Khuzayma al-Sulamī al-Naysābūrī (223–311/838–924), known as Ibn Khuzayma , was a prominent Shāfiʿī jurist and ḥadīth scholar of Nīshāpūr. He travelled to Rayy, Baghdad, Basra, Kufa, Syria, northern Iraq, Egypt, and Wāsiṭ to study Islamic law and collect Prophetic ḥadīth . He is reported to have come to the rescue of al-Muzanī (d. 264/878), a pupil of al-Shāfiʿī (d. 204/820), in a scholarly debate, by providing him with ḥadīth s to bolster his position. He also studied
