Abstract	:	Ibn Melek Firişteoğlu (Firişteoghlu, d. after 821/1418), a scholar of Ḥanafī jurisprudence and a glossarist, lived in the city of Tire (in the Aegean region of present-day Turkey) during the period of the Aydınoğulları beylik (708–92/1308–90; 803–29/1401–25). While he is well known as İbn Melek Firişteoğlu he uses different names in his books such as Abdülaziz b. Abdüllatif (ʿAbdülazīz b. ʿAbdüllaṭīf) b. Melek ( Mabāriq al-azhār ); Mehmed b. Abdüllatif b. Ferişte ( Sharḥ Manār ), and sources differ about the origin of his patronymic “
