Abstract	:	Abū l-ʿAbbās Aḥmad b. al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī Ibn al-Khaṭīb (740–810/1339–1407), better known as Ibn Qunfudh , was a man of science known for his encyclopaedic knowledge, at a time when mathematics and astronomy were essentially utilitarian. Ibn Qunfudh was born in Constantine (in the central Maghrib), then under the administration of the Ḥafṣids (627–982/1229–1574).
