Abstract	:	The Indian diaspora in Africa currently comprises more than 2.25 million people. They share a fascinating history of free and forced migration, colonial realities and postcolonial consequences, triumph and suffering, integration and assimilation, and conflict and cooperation. In some African countries, South Asians arrived in large numbers and eventually formed communities that constituted two percent (Kenya and South Africa) to thirty-one percent (Réunion) and even sixty percent (Mauritius) of the total population.
