Aḥmad Luṭfī al-Sayyid (1872–1963) is considered one of modern Egypt’s most prominent public intellectuals. Luṭfī was a lawyer, editor, philosopher, educator, translator, university rector, politician, and cabinet minister. He held significant roles in each of these arenas, leaving behind a legacy that has had a deep impact on intellectual, academic, cultural, and political life in Egypt.
