Abstract	:	ʿ Abd al-Raḥmān al-Ifrīqī (b. 1908 or 1909, d. 1957) was a Malian teacher of sharīʿa and ḥadīth and a proponent of Wahhābī doctrine, who spent much of his adult life in Saudi Arabia. He was born in Fafā, near Ansongo, whence his nisba al-Fafawī. He attended a French school in Mali and was employed by the weather service to write down temperatures and basic meteorological informations. He undertook the pilgrimage (ḥajj) in the 1930s and in Medina, he met another African, Shaykh Saʿīd b. Ṣadīq, under
