Abstract	:	ʿAlī b. ʿĪsā b. Dāʾūd b. al-Jarrāḥ (245–334/859–946) was an ʿAbbāsid scribe (kātib) from a famous secretarial family, the Banū l-Jarrāḥ. He was twice wazīr under the caliph al-Muqtadir (r. 295–320/908–32) and has gone down in history as a paragon of excellent and virtuous secretaryship. 1.
