Abstract : Muḥammad ʿAskarī Mīrzā (922–65/1516–58) was the third surviving son of Zaḥīr al-Dīn Muḥammad Bābur, the founder of the Mughal dynasty (r. 932–6/1526–30). ʿAskarī and Kāmrān Mīrzā—born in 922/1516 and 915/1509, respectively, to one of his consorts, Gulrukh Begam—were the half-brothers of Nāṣir al-Dīn Muḥammad Humāyūn, Bābur’s eldest son and successor, who reigned in Hindustan from 937/1530 to 947/1540 and from 962/1555 to 963/1556 over parts of India and Afghanistan. ʿAskarī’s name
