Abstract : Mirzā ʿAzīz Koka (c. 949–1033/c. 1542–1624) was one of the leading nobles at the courts of the Mughal emperors Akbar and Jahāngīr. He was the son of Shams al-Dīn Aḥmad Ghaznawī and of Akbar's (r. 963–1013/1556–1605) wet-nurse Jījī Ānga, hence his Turkish sobriquet “Koka” or “foster-brother.” His family, the Ātka Khayl, came into prominence at the beginning of Akbar's reign.
