Abstract	:	ʿ Ālam ārā-yi ʿAbbāsī , “The world-adorning history of ʿAbbās,” is the most important chronicle of the Ṣafavid dynasty of Iran, highlighting the reign of Shāh ʿAbbās I (r. 995–1038/1587–1629). The work, written by Iskandar Beg Munshī (c. 968–1042/1560–1632), is the most famous and well known of all Ṣafavid chronicles. The text has shaped the field of Ṣafavid studies in important ways and has formed the basis for many current assumptions about Ṣafavid history.
