Abstract : Īraj Mīrzā (b. 1873 in Tabriz, d. 1926 in Tehran), was an Iranian poet of the late Qājār period—the Qājārs ruled Iran from 1795 to 1925—known to literary history as the Iranian “awakening and enlightenment” era. A descendant of Fatḥ ʿAlī Shāh, the second Qājār king (r. 1797–1834), he received the title of Jalāl al-Mamālik (“Glory of the lands”). His early poetic talent earned him protection and support from Ḥasan ʿAlī Khān Garrūsī (d. 1900), known as Amīr Niẓām, a high dignitary of the Qājār court,
