Abstract	:	This article presents a new edition, translation and interpretation of the inscription of Udayasena found on the Muṇḍeśvarī Hill. It is argued that the Maṇḍaleśvarasvāmin mentioned in it refers to the main deity of the Muṇḍeśvarī Temple. The Māhātmya of this manifestation of Śiva is found in the original Skandapurāṇa. It concerns the myth of the nymph Tilottamā who, by circumambulating the god at this site, calls forth his caturmukhaliṅga form, known as Maṇḍaleśvara.
