Abstract	:	This article reflects upon the problems I experience in finding a methodology for public theology. A number of current models are explored but are not found to resolve the difficulties experienced in articulating a progressive theological contribution to public debate. The article goes on to argue that feminist theology provides helpful resources for provisional, pragmatic and creative theological reflection. However, a more radical critique of the genre of public theology is required in order to speak of God in the contemporary context.
