Smith, with particular focus on his essay “When the Bough Breaks.” After a brief summary of the essay, I will place it and its contributions within the broader context of my interactions with Smith and his work, reflecting on the ways in which Smith’s scholarship has allowed me to understand the vital relationship between the questions we ask as scholars and the answers we offer.
