In her case studies of Pentecostal readers of Scripture, Grey has pointed out the odd tension between Pentecostal’s predilection for orality and their lack of interest in the narrative context of the passages they read. Exodus 32–34 provides the narrative context that identifies the focus and flow of Exod. 33.11–23. Pentecostal readings can be distinguished by five emphases, that they; are narrative rather than propositional, are dynamic rather than static, are experience-based, seek encounter more than understanding, and are pragmatic, emphasizing transformation and application. I will survey Exod. 33.11–23 through the lens of these emphases.
