Abstract : Bullhe Shāh (d. 1171/1758) has long been regarded as the greatest master of the Ṣūfī lyric in Panjābī. Biographical details are sparse, however, and for the most part uncertainly established (Faqīr, i–xii). His father, Sakhī Shāh Muḥammad Darwesh, from a sayyid family long established in Uch Gīlāniyāṇ in Bahāwalpūr District, migrated eastward to settle in the village of Pāṇd'oke, near the town of Qaṣūr in Lahore District.
