Abstract : Reading is considered a foundation of learning, playing a vital role in the students' achievement at schools through the academic years. Teaching reading is a demanding task that requires extensive work and effort from teachers to develop reading and writing skills throughout the elementary level. This study aimed to explore how male elementary school educators in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia teach reading, the challenges they face regarding the teaching of reading, and how they assess their students' reading progress, including strategies that they use to support students who struggle with reading. The participants of this study were five teachers who instruct reading at an elementary school in a large city in Saudi Arabia. The study employed qualitative research with a case study approach. The result of the study found that there are ten main challenges for teaching reading, three main stages of teaching reading, how students progress in reading while being evaluated, and strategies that the participants used with struggling readers.
