This qualitative case study was conducted to analyze the extent higher education institutions in Enugu State, Nigeria utilized Electronic Information and Communications Technology (EICT) to manage students’ records. The literature reviewed focused on the variety of EICT available for records management as well as institutions of higher educations’ effective, ineffective, and nonexistence usage of them. It was found that the majority of higher education institutions in Enugu State, Nigeria do not make effective use of electronic information communication technology in managing students’ records. Interview protocol was used as primary data collection instrument. The researcher focused on records management and administrative staff of four public and higher education institutions in Enugu State, Nigeria. Purposive sampling was used to select 12 participants for the study. The participants included two records management and one administrative staff from each of the four higher education institutions that were the focus of the study. The findings were a lack of training for records management staff, no clear policies for students’ records management, constant power (electricity) outages, and a lack of technology-based resources. The findings revealed that higher education institutions in Enugu State, Nigeria make very little use of EICT for students’ records management. The recommendations based on the findings of the study include proper training of staff on effective and efficient students’ records management, creation of effective students’ records management policy, procurement of stand-by power generating source and purchasing of effective EICT based system for students’ records management.
