Abstract : Since the 1970s, the Rohingya Muslim minority has been coming to Bangladesh due to religious, political, and cultural persecution. The situation becomes complicated for Bangladesh after the sudden influx from 25 August 2017. More than 1.1 million refugees are now living in refugee camps and different settlement areas in Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh. 2020, is the third year since the government of Bangladesh along with many national and international NGOs are providing shelter, food, medicine, education, and other necessaries to the Rohingya refugee. Regardless of their supports, there is scope for a better environment for the refugee. On the other hand, the presence of refugees has both negative and positive economic impacts on the host community. My research aims to identify, explain, and evaluate the environment and economic insecurity from respectively the refugee and host community perspective and determine how both groups are experiencing due to this influx. The findings of the study revolve around two outcomes. First, though the refugees are getting everything in camps for survival, there still needs improvement for better living, especially for women and children. And second, smaller and individual businessmen, farmers, and fishermen are experiencing different than housing property business, hotel industries, construction business, and transportation/rental business. So, they need urgent financial assistance from the Bangladesh government and NGOs to improve their economic condition. Therefore, the study suggests adopting different programs, strategies for the betterment of both the refugee and host communities.
