| Abstract

Small business enterprises (SBEs) are major drivers of economic growth, particularly in developing economies. In low-income countries, SBEs account for an overwhelming majority of businesses, and they create employment and spur innovation in such countries. Traditionally, SBEs relied on simple business structures that enabled them to consistently remain functional and competitive without becoming too intricate and presenting additional challenges in an operational and managerial sense. However, in the modern global business environment, businesses have to be increasingly innovative in order to remain competitive; even at local levels, businesses are increasingly utilizing various technologies as a means of increasing their effectiveness and accruing advantages over the competition. As such, SBEs and technology share a relationship in which small businesses implement innovative technological solutions to improve their operations, and aggregate technological growth is encouraged by innovations of SBEs. Libya presents a compelling perspective on the influence of technology on SBEs because the country has a rapidly growing and diversifying economy. This qualitative study will be done using the exploratory method. The study has been done by interviewing 10 participants from different cities with different levels of education in the country of Libya. The data were collected by recording the interviews, then transcribing them to prepare them for the analysis process. The data were then analyzed manually and using the software N Vivo 12. The themes are presented and discussed in chapters 4 and 5. This study analyzes various aspects of the effects of technology on small business enterprises in Libya and makes inferences regarding the overall interactions of technology and SBEs in developing economies.
