Abstract

This exploratory study reveals strategies needed by IT cloud specialists to improve the adoption of cloud computing technology within several countries in the Arabian Gulf region. Research indicates that cloud computing is indispensable for any entity, company or government geared towards globalization and IT cost reductions (Sultan, 2010). Cloud computing is a growing technology around the world, and in a quest to become globalized, there is a need for the countries to adopt this technology and increase global connectivity. Also, there are issues regarding how well the governments and people in these countries are helping to improve the adoption levels of cloud computing (Buyya et al., 2009).This research has the gap in the literature by interviewing participants who had experience with cloud computing from different countries in the Arabian Gulf region. Participants were from both genders with different levels of education. The study also highlights the benefits of cloud computing as important to building confidence for improved adoption levels when applied to other business trades in the Arabian Gulf region. This process ended up with six themes including (1) Training needs, (2) Security of data, (3) Compatibility with other processes, (4) Assessment of the resources, (5) Adoption level, (6) Government’s role. Then themes are discussed in this chapter. Each theme is supported by participants statements from the interviews.
