This study examined the effect of entrepreneurship practices on poverty reduction in the informal sector of South West Nigeria. High rate of poverty is a threat to Nigeria economic development. Poverty in any community is a setback to the economic, social, political and general development of the society. The study postulated four hypotheses to achieve the set objectives and answer the research questions. The study specific objectives are to; (i) determine the effect of entrepreneurship practices on skills acquisition among tie and dye makers in South West Nigeria; (ii) investigate the effect of entrepreneurship practices on income generation among tie and dye makers in South West Nigeria; (iii) evaluate the extent to which entrepreneurship practices effect employment creation among tie and dye makers in South West Nigeria; and (iv) examine the effect of entrepreneurship practices on enterprise creation among tie and dye makers in South West Nigeria. Data were collected by using questionnaires which were administered to three hundred and sixty-nine (369) tie and dye makers in Osun, Oyo, and Ogun States. Three hundred and sixty-nine questionnaires were collected with adequate monitoring. Analysis of data was done by using multiple regression to explore the effect of entrepreneurship practices (measured by mentoring, entrepreneurial mindset, creativity and innovation) on perceived of poverty reduction (measured by the skill acquisition, income generation, employment creation and enterprise creation scales). Findings of the study showed that there is positive effect between entrepreneurship practices and poverty reduction in the informal sector of South West Nigeria. It revealed that poverty can be reduce through entrepreneurship practices. Based on the findings, the following recommendations were made: Entrepreneurship should be a core subject in all our institutions of learning to boost skills acquisition among the populace; Tie and dye makers should come together and give more orientation on how to boost their income; Entrepreneurship practices should be propagated by Tie and Dye Makers Association of Nigeria (TDMAN) in order to create awareness of existing job in tie and dye business and enterprise creation should be given more priority by government in order to reduce poverty among the populace.
