Abstract	:	The number of mentally ill individuals within our criminal justice system has increased since the time of deinstitutionalization in America. While there has been numerous studies on public perception of offenders and public perceptions of mentally ill individuals, there are a limited number of studies analyzing public perceptions of mentally ill offenders. Research is also scarce in regards to how personality traits and personal demographics impact such perceptions.
