Abstract	:	This curatorial project introduces an exhibition on handheld fans in Late Imperial China. The main theme of the exhibition is the relationship between gender and the differentiated uses and designs of handheld fans. This exhibition will include physical handheld fans as well as images containing fans to provide a window into how these fans were used on a daily basis. The aim of the exhibition is to remind people of the subtle ways daily utensils are gendered and to increase awareness of women’s objects in the exploration of Chinese traditional culture.
