Abstract	:	In today’s African American Church tradition, there is a tendency to legitimize the diminution and denial of African American’s humanity when preaching about Jesus’ crucifixion. This ministry problem is observable in preaching that employs commodifying theological metaphors, criminalizing rhetoric, and capitalizing ethics. To address this ministry problem, this project unearths and redeploys latent and nascent resources within the Black Church’s preaching tradition to move toward a revolutionary homiletical paradigm that empowers preachers to promote African Americans’ humanity when proclaiming the kerygma of Jesus Christ crucified.
