Abstract	:	The aim of this study is to develop standards for articulation in Yoruba. This pilot study aims to determine whether the Mayaki Articulation Test for Yoruba (MATY) is an effective assessment tool for evaluating articulation in children who speak Yoruba. Participants will respond to pictures, verbal and visual cues from the examiner with single word answers that demonstrate common speech sounds. Therefore, this research study will shed light on the following question: Is the MATY a reliable, valid, and culturally appropriate assessment tool for articulation of Yoruba? The original MATY was administered to group 1 and group 2. Visual stimuli missed by 75% or more of the participants, were then changed and the revised model was then administered to group 2. Results indicate that the MATY is a useful tool in assessing Yoruba articulation and could open doors of awareness for the field of speech language pathology in Nigeria.
