Abstract	:	I am settling into a sincere appreciation of the unassuming power of dust. It is the essence of life from which all beings are created. There is a certain persistence in dust's ability to drift and dance defying stillness, until it eventually settles and clings to things more stable. I relate to the simplicity of it, the adaptability, and of course to the urge to wipe it away and pretend as if it were never there. The Dust of Me is my reminder that nothing is ever really clean. You can temporarily remove dust, shine something up, but in the end the essence of who you are, what you think, how you feel always reclaims its place on the surface. This collection is separated into the two ways in which the dust that makes me who I am typically manifests, as Spirits and Ghosts. Spirits are those moments that resonate with the person that I am trying to be. Spirits are alive and well and speak to my intellect. They provide an unwavering lens from which I view the world. Ghosts allow me to leave my own life and try on the real and imagined lives of people around me. They help me escape when the real world is mundane or unsatisfying. The spirits and ghosts are as real to me as the dust that I can plainly see with my eyes, the dust that has taken the form of poems.
